NOTOC

Type: $blogExpOpt

Scope: self (as sub-post only)

Purpose: Suppresses note’s inclusion in (ancestor’s) Table of Contents

For sub-posts only.

To include a sub-post in its parent post but prevent its listing in the Table of Contents, add NOTOC to its $blogExpOpt. This is assuming that you have activated the Table by setting the $blogTOC of the parent post to a natural number.

NOTOC sub-posts change their background color in Outline View to dark red. Set the value of the custom color _notoc to change this.

The solution is to set the $DisplayExpression to something simple. If the note is a repeating module that would look horrible in a Table of Contents, set its $blogExpOpt to NOTOC.

For example, this is how the media macros examples are handled:

This would look hideous in a Table of Contents. Setting the
$blogExpOpt
of the samples to NOTOC prevents this.
