Q: What is granularity and how do I control it?


Every webpage that you export from BoxPress is either a single note or a note with children. A note with children is called a container note.

If a container note is compiled then the the title and text of its children will be appended as sub-sections (called sub-posts elsewhere in this documentation). If a container note is granular (non-compiled) then only the titles of its children will be appended as SmartButtons.

PAGES are granular

PAGES are fully granular by default. So if you place a container note inside of Blog PAGES, then the titles of its children will be appended as SmartButtons.

You can override this at any level of depth using the COMPILE export option:

POSTS are compiled

POSTS are fully compiled by default. So if you place a container note inside of Blog POSTS (better: inside one of its categories) then it and all of its descendants will be compiled into a single webpage, with the title and text of children appended recursively as sections and sub-sections.
