Georges Laurent
(1886 – 1964)
Georges Laurent (1886–1964) as born in Paris, where he studied with Philippe Gaubert before entering the Paris Conservatoire, where his teacher was Paul Taffanel.
Laurent won the Premier Prix at the Conservatoire in 1905. He travelled to the USA in 1918 and was hired as first flute in the Boston Symphony Orchestra, a position he held until 1952. George Laurent taught at the New England Conservatory
