Tutorial: How to export a PAGE

A PAGE is a piece of writing that is note dated and which is accessed via the Pages navbar button. A PAGE is granular during export. Each note exports as its own webpage, while its children are represented as SmartButtons that are placed after the main text. SmartButtons are links to the notes they represent.

Click on the Blog PAGES tab in your Content Window. Find the [PAGE Samples] note and run the stamp. Now find, hoist, and option-expand the Sample Page container note as explained above:

Hoisted and expanded.

Click the Preview Tab in the Text Pane Selector and expand the window leftwards (if you haven’t already) and hit ⌘4 to maximize the Text Pane:

Widen the window and hit CMD-4 for a full preview.

To have a PAGE export like a POST, use the COMPILE export option by adding the string COMPILE to the key attribute $blogExpOpt.

To make your own PAGE:

  1. Make a new note inside of Blog Pages and give it a name—your project container.
  2. Copy and paste your writing project inside your project container. Set the prototype of every note to normal_note. The export will be granular—children will export as buttons beneath the text of every webpage.
  3. If you to compile a container and its descendants on one page, add COMPILE to that container’s $blogExpOpt.
  4. When you are done, select your project container and check the tick-box next to $blogReady ($blogReady is a key attribute. If it’s not visible at the top of the window, run the stamp and it will appear.)
  5. Export your blog by running File > Export > as HTML. Select BoxPressExport as your export folder. Click Export.
  6. Go the the Finder and open index.html, and you will be viewing your new home page!
